Shutterfly

Shutterfly is a photography, photography products, and image sharing company, headquartered in San Jose, California. The company is mainly known for custom photo printing services with various partnerships with Disney, Amazon and Costco.

My Responsibilities as part of the Creative Services team:
  • Weekly sprints designing and executing digital assets such as promotional & targeted emails, web and mobile app banners and social media ads and posts using Figma / FigJam based on the ever-evolving Brand Guideline, Design System & Component / Content Library.
  • Increase and drive brand visibility, engagement and customer conversion by partnering with cross-functional teams in Marketing.
  • Visual Design / User Interface Design / Digital Design
  • Wireframing
  • Deliver front-end customer-facing digital assets for Developers / back-end delivery
  • Working with, refining, updating, providing feedback, testing and optimizing the Design System
    • Component & Content / CMS Library + Variants
  • Work with a collaborative team of Creative & Editorial Directors, Copywriters, UX/UI + Digital Designers, Developers / Tech Ops, Post-Production Photo Retouchers & Project Managers

My Proudest Contributions to the Business:
  • Use Design Thinking to identify problems / pain points / repeated patterns and provide feedback, testing & improve design and business solutions and operations.
  • Develop and refine the Design System, validate and standardize patterns for efficient optimized workflow.

Software / Skills:
  • Figma proficiency (use of auto layout, wireframes, component + brand libraries, variants, modules , tokens, basic prototyping, use of plugins)

  • Image / product photography retouching in Photoshop (i.e. image extensions for various ratios / dimensions, use of psb / smart object layers)

Campaign 1: Black Friday
  • Step 1: Dissect marketing brief / campaign needs
  • Step 2: Work with the Figma email template + wireframes
  • Step 3: Present internally to the Creative Team for feedback / refinement (creative directors, editorial directors, copywriters, photography retouch needs, timelines, etc)
  • Step 4: Post for cross-functional partners presentation for initial feedback + design changes + product photography retouch needs for any additional digital assets to create.
  • Step 5: Round Two designs presented for Executive Leadership review
  • Step 6: Final round design changes + approval
  • Step 7: Hand off & delivery for tech / developers

Transactional Emails:

Overview & My Role:
  • To refresh Shutterfly's transactional emails to align with the updated brand voice & visual style.
  • My repsonsibility was to re-design new customer's Account Confirmation emails (including co-branded partner's accounts for Costco)
  • Account Confirmation Email Goals:
    • Welcome new customers & establish brand credibility
    • Onboard new customers, introduce product offerings and encourage app download
    • Drive first purchase with Free Shipping, No Minimum
    • Provide customer support contact details
